3rd Australian MS Get Together

The 3rd Australian PwMS Get Together was held in the heart of the Hunter Region, Newcastle, on the weekend of 17-19 October 2003.

Jooly's Joint member Matty, writes: "The weekend attracted 35 people with MS and our families and friends from the Hunter Valley, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane for a spirited weekend of fun and friendship.

"The weekend began with a traditional 'meet and greet' at the Western Suburbs Leagues Club on Friday evening. This gave us all the opportunity to introduce ourselves over a few hardy drinks.

"The high of the weekend was the dinner on Saturday evening, which was held in the Treehouse, at the University of Newcastle. The evening was very special. The group enjoyed not only fine food and excellent service but were also treated to a surprise appearance by the one and only 'Fat Elvis'. The night attracted plenty of laughter with the outcome memorable.

"On Sunday, several people with MS and their families met at the Hunter Valley Gardens in 'wine country' for a BBQ lunch. It was a magical day and a fitting end to a great weekend.

"I would like to thank the following people and organisations who assisted in making the weekend such a success: Cinderina's (decorations); Ship O Fools (entertainment); Newcastle University Union; Amanda Burton and those donations which made many of the above extras possible.

"I'd like to thank to all everyone who attended the weekend, especially those people from outside Newcastle. I look forward to meeting more people next year for another Australian PwMS Get Together in Sydney on 20-22 August 2004."
