Life has definitely been more difficult since I was diagnosed in 2008. The worst is when people say you look fine. Maybe I am fine on the outside but they don't see what I go through behind closed doors: medication side effects, injections, pounding headaches, loss of vision and equilibrium. I recently lost my job because I was constantly tired and could no longer remember all the fine details of that position. The good thing is that I appreciate more the people that I do have in my life. I still feel very much alone though and want to talk with people who are not only gay but have MS.

I was diagnosed by a neurologist but misdiagnosed a year prior by a doctor who said I'd had a stroke. So I don’t know how long MS has been part of my life. In 2007, I had serve dental pain and with the removal of some teeth the pain went away until February 2009. I'm the first in my family to have MS. I'm uninsured so searched for economic alternatives. One route led me to a two-year clinical study on MS. I will be entering the study days before my 51st birthday. So anyone have some helpful hints on how to survive with relapsing remitting MS? Oh yes, I'm a single gay male.

I just left work after a 28-year career as a financial professional. I either have secondary progressive or relapsing remitting MS. Fatigue, spasticity, constant pain, tremor and cognative issues are my primary problems. Since leaving work I'm so bored. I'm trying to create a new definition of self. I sure would like to meet other GLBT people to share with. There are times I use a cane and while I don't own one there are times for long days or distance I have used a wheelchair - this scares me most.

I was diagnosed in 2000. I've been doing pretty good. I'm on Betaseron and have side effects. Being gay and having MS has been the biggest challenge for me. I just want to get out there and see if anyone is going through the same things.

My son 21-year-old son was just diagnosed with MS. They have given him three days of steroids. He is doing his undergraduate work and is attending summer classes. We have to decide what treatment to start. I'd like to talk to other lesbian mothers with children who have MS. Or anyone with MS. One question I already have is about stem cell transplants.

After all these years of hiding it I can't pretend anymore. Oddly, I haven't had this much difficulty being gay, even though I grew up in South Mississippi! Now I can't hide my limp and sometimes I stumble and fall. I've never felt so alone. I can't seem to find the courage to leave the house, and that just isn't me! I like being out and about. I'd like to talk with other gay people.

I had a stroke five years ago. After all the horrible tests I was diagnosed with MS. It was terrible for my partner. The pain is getting worse and Oxycontin doesn't help anymore! Please, someone take the pain away at least for one day! I miss sex a lot!

I'm a single guy with MS, joining three others in the family already diagnosed (sister, and near cousin each side of the family). I'm still working, with mild to moderate impairment. I've watched one relative and one friend slide downhill on injectables so I dropped Avonex (high cost aside, no benefit/miserable side effects) for LDN in 2006. It's dirt cheap with no drawbacks that I can see, and I've experienced some mild improvement. I know some of what you're probably facing. I'm a good listener, hit me back.

My symptoms include pain everywhere. My legs are bad, they feel like they keep getting run over. My ribs and chest hurt bad like 100 knives stuck in me getting twisted. My face and neck - oh my god kinda pain. I'm looking for new friends. I don't want to be alone as I'm a nice guy in need of nice friends.

Hey, I'm looking to meet some friends in my area or webpals. I have pretty good movement. I walk with a limp - I tell folks I was attacked by a shark. I've been sick about 11 years and went from having one bad leg to two bad legs. But pump me up with steroids and all is good. I need some friends that have some understanding of what life is for us. I'm single, but would like to meet someone that is independent (like me). Anyone new to MS, please feel free to write and I can tell you what know. If anyone has done acupuncture let me know the results.

I'm a writer, primarily a poet. My officially official domestic partner is wonderfully supportive and a terrific carpenter, so ramps go in where ramps are needed and they are done well. I'm told my MS is secondary progressive. If so, I've been on a lovely plateau for a while. I fatigue easily. MS is a tricksy trickster. My mom had MS and one of my (male) cousins does. I avoid long walks, high stress, and heat. I like rowing on an ergonometer because it's full body exercise at home and the machine's wheel blows cool air back over me as I row.

Up until two years ago I was travelling the world with my partner of five years (yey, I climbed and walked on the Great Wall of China!). Now I'm an 'internet traveller'. I know that my walking will improve, allowing us yet another adventure or two! I'm a retired (because of MS) speech pathologist. My partner is a nurse. We have a wonderful life together, enjoying it moment by moment.

Hi, I'm single and nearly 40. I enjoy reading, art and going to the theatre. I love taking my little dog for a walk although the MS sometimes limits this. I have relapsing remitting MS, slowly progressing to secondary progressive MS. I get tired quite a lot and walk with the aid of a stick (or two) but have kept my sense of humour. I'd love to hear from any gal out there with similar interests.

Hi, I was diagnosed in 2003. I had to retire from the postal service. When I was first diagnosed it was a really confusing time for me. Body parts didn't want to work. I've been in remission for four years. I've been with my partner going on 24 years. I'd like to correspond with anyone who has MS, is new to it, has any questions, etc. I'm a huge fan of lesbian fiction/ romance. Radclyffe is absolutely my favorite author. I'd love to discuss her work or that of any of the other authors from Bold Strokes Books. My partner and I breed German Shepherds.

I was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS a year ago. It's taken me a year to deal with the initial shock and denial. My older sister was diagnosed four years ago, so by the time I was referred to a neurologist, I pretty well knew what was wrong. She and I have totally different symptoms. I have had no really bad relapses. My legs and feet are numb and I have bladder issues. I have my own business, but wonder how long I can keep it and what the future holds (one day at a time I guess). My partner of 14 years is very supportive, but I feel I need to communicate with other gay men and women who understand the issues and feelings that someone in our condition has.

Hi all! I'm a single gay guy. Fortunately, I'm still reasonably active, though it takes a while to get going in the morning! May be my age, who knows! I have a very postive outlook on health issues, and often push myself too hard. But as they say, use it or lose it! I keep myself amused by doing gardening, which I find is a great stress reliever. I love cooking and socialising with friends. We have barbeques and parties in the summer. I'm a dab hand at DIY and can fix anything mechanical. I love classic cars and music of most types, but not jazz! I have two rescue cats who are great companions. I'm happy to chat with guys/gals on here, whether straight or gay. I'm easy to get along with and don't take offence easily. So get writing!

Hi, I have had highs and lows with my MS, but right now it's in remission. I did five years if chemotherapy to get here. It's all good. I don't work and walk with a cane but can still drive. I've been travelling as much as money will allow. I feel I have to use it in case I ever lose it! I have recently travelled to England to see family, California to see friends and will soon go to Florida before it gets too hot. It's hard to find lesbians with MS. I know that you are out there. I have a great attitude. I feel that's half the battle! I get steroids every six weeks. I love art and try to see and do as much of it as my body will allow. I have a cat and a goldfish. In my past life I went to a school for Graphic Design. I worked for Macy's as a Manager in the handbags department. Yes a bag-free lesbian! Well, that's my story! Let's talk.

Hi, I'm in a wonderful relationship with my partner of seven years. I'm having a lot of tests at the moment (trying to get a diagnosis). I'd love to hear from others with the same problems. I've had a lot of weakness in my arms and legs and other problems. It would be nice to be in touch with others going through the same thing.

I used to be a nurse but had to quit because of MS. Now I'm a dog walker which I love as much as I loved nursing. It took many years to diagnose me but being a nurse and having three family members with MS I already knew I had it. I love to keep myself busy when I'm not too fatigued. I love animals, especially dogs. Have a dog who keeps me very busy. I like to read, do some traveling when I can, hike through the woods and anything outdoors in the summer. I'm looking for a webpal to chat with about anything.

I'm originally from new York, but was living in Florida when I was diagnosed in '98 with relapsing remitting MS. I was struggling with the heat so I moved to the west coast. I was overjoyed to find a more moderate climate here in Santa Barbara. Before my diagnosis I had a 20 year career in the automotive field. I enjoy sports, photography, books (on tape), cooking and pottery. I wear a brace on my left leg because of foot drop and knee hyper-extension. I use a scooter when necessary, as long as my vertigo doesn't present itself. I have a positive attitude and great sense of humor. I'm looking forward to hearing from others who 'get it' without explanation.

I'm a lesbian with a wonderful partner of 13 years. We had been living apart for four years while she completed her PhD in Florida and I stayed back to work in Denver. I finally moved to Orlando, Florida 15 months ago, and was diagnosed with MS 11 months ago. I had been sick a lot the past few years with sinus infections and pneumonia. I just thought it was bad allergies. I had a bad cold at Christmas break last year, and then started going numb and losing feeling throughout my body. With in a month they had a diagnosis. I grew up with my mother having MS, so it's always been a part of my life. It was extremely emotional and hard to see my mom go through her pain and struggles. I was stunned to have it as well! I could take care of my mother, but now I have to be strong to take care of myself, which seems to be very hard! I’m doing it, but it's hard to stay positive sometimes. I'd like to connect with gay men and lesbians that have MS that just need someone to talk to, support and to be able to talk to about my life without worry! I know other people with MS, but no-one gay. Looking forward to meeting you!

I don't have a lot of symptoms and I'm not on any meds for MS. I work 40 hours per week. I can retire in three years. I have a dog and a cat. Both are spoiled rotten. I love movies, football and tennis. I play guitar and sing. I love music. I'd like to hear from others.
