Jooly's Joint Email Discussion Groups
- Do you enjoy receiving lots of email every day?
- Would you like to share your experience of life
with MS with others around the world?
- Would you like to hear how other people with MS
deal with symptoms, running a family, work, travel and many other
issues?
Jooly's Joint offers 5 different email discussion
groups that you are most welcome to join!
About email discussion groups
Email discussion groups are a chance to exchange
emails with many people with MS at once.
When you join on of our groups you will
immediately start to receive all the messages that other members of the group
send around the group. This can be very overwhelming at first! You may receive
as many as 20 messages per day.
You don't need to reply to the messages, but if
you would like to join in the discussion then you are very welcome. Just reply
to the message, making sure that the group email address appears in the 'to'
line of your message.
If you join a group but later decide that you
would like to leave, just drop an email to Jooly at
jooly@mswebpals.org.
Guidelines for group members
Please remember that our discussion groups are
for MS support, and all messages should be about MS support. Jooly moderates
all of the groups, and may delete messages that stray too far from the general
area of MS support.
Please respect our guidelines and help us keep
the groups useful, friendly and supportive.
These are our general group
guidelines:
- Please don't use our groups to solicit sale of
any herbal therapy or other treatment regime. Anyone found using Jooly's Joint
for this purpose will be removed from the groups immediately.
If unsure, ask Jooly.
- Please do not send junk email, chain letters or
computer virus warnings to our lists. If you are concerned about a computer
virus warning that you have received, ask
Jooly. Jooly will check out the warning and circulate it to the list if
appropriate.
- A sense of humour is very welcome! But please
don't send jokes to the groups (unless the group is Jolly
JJ). If unsure, ask
Jooly.
- Please do not discuss of religion (unless the
group is MS Christians) or party politics. Trust me, it only
leads to arguments!
If unsure, ask
Jooly.
- Please do not post that include racist, sexist
or homophobic comments or jokes, offensive language (swearing), threatening
behaviour or behaviour likely to cause distress to other members. Please treat
other group members with kindness and respect.
- If the content of your message truly only
applies to one person, then please email that person privately. Please try to
avoid sending one or two word responses (such as 'I agree') to the groups. Some
of the groups generate up to 100 messages per week. Keeping messages to the
point helps everyone, especially those members who have to pay to download
email, have slow internet connections or any other difficulty dealing with
large numbers of emails.
If you are unsure if your message is appropriate,
ask Jooly at jooly@mswebpals.org
If you are not willing to follow these
guidelines, you may be asked to leave the group. The guidelines have been
agreed by group members and exist to keep our groups useful and welcoming.
While Jooly doesn't strictly moderate all the groups all the time, she does
keep an eye on them and will contact people who don't stick to the guidelines.
In our 11 year history, less than 5 people have been asked to leave, which is a
record we can all be very proud of!
Please consider the guidelines before joining any
group.
Finally, never try medicines or treatments you
read about on the internet without speaking to your doctor or MS Society first.
Any statements made result from the experience of the person writing the
message and are should not be taken as expert or professional advice.
IMPORTANT: You may receive a LOT of email every
day if you join one of our lists!
OK, now you know the rules, please join us and
enjoy!
