| Miss Lesbian Beauty 2000, took place at Talk of London in Drury Lane, London, UK on 25 July 2000. This beauty contest is much like any other in format, with three rounds: daywear, swimwear and eveningwear (which includes an interview). There is also an optional talent round. Focusing on brains, self-confidence and sexiness, the competition takes the idea of the traditional beauty contest and turns it on its head. Lesbians of all shapes, sizes, colours and ages are encouraged to participate. 12 contestants were chosen by a selection panel from a pool of applicants. The event was hosted by Amy Lamé and judged by Graham Norton, Rhona Cameron, Linda Bellos and Donna McPhail . Carol made a video diary of her triumph. In the
optional talent round, she did a stand-up comedy routine from her wheelchair
(and used crutches and sticks for the other rounds). We hear she brought the
house down! |
